Dr. Nihilola Mabogunja Reappointed to the Independent Judging Panel for the PHC Leadership Challenge

The Centre for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions (C-WINS) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Nihilola Mabogunja, a distinguished member of our Board of Directors, has been reappointed to the Independent Judging Panel (IJP) Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge (PHC LC).

This prestigious appointment, endorsed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate (CON), recognizes Dr. Mabogunja’s exceptional contributions to the IJP over the past year. Her dedication and expertise have been instrumental in ensuring the transparency, objectivity, and credibility of the judging process, which evaluates states’ performance in advancing primary health care under the Abuja and Seattle Declarations.

The PHC Leadership Challenge is a transformative initiative designed to incentivize state governments to strengthen their primary health care systems, build accountability, and increase investments in critical PHC areas. Organized by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in collaboration with UNICEF, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and the SWAp Coordination Office, the challenge tracks key indicators to recognize and reward excellence in PHC implementation.

As part of the IJP, Dr. Mabogunja will play a pivotal role in reviewing and validating independent verification reports that determine the winning states for the 2024 awards. Her continued commitment to the panel reflects her unwavering dedication to improving Nigeria’s health systems and fostering resilient community-based health care solutions.

The reappointment letter from Dr. Pate highlights Dr. Mabogunja’s significant impact and outlines plans for the maiden IJP meeting to review the Result Framework in preparation for the PHC LC event on December 12, 2024.

C-WINS congratulates Dr. Mabogunja on this well-deserved recognition and reaffirms its commitment to supporting her and other health leaders in creating lasting impacts within the Nigerian health sector.
