Grow your C-WINS Partners with Nigeria Governors' Spouses' Forum to Advance Public Health and Empowerment Initiatives

The Centre for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions (C-WINS) organized a two-day stakeholders meeting to ensure a shared understanding of the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccine Introduction Advocacy project. The meeting, held on December 19, 2024, at the K-Class Hotel, aims to harmonize work plans and advocacy tools to achieve 95% MR vaccination coverage across Nigeria.

C-WINS appreciates the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for its steadfast support and collaboration in advancing this critical public health initiative. C-WINS also commends the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for integrating the advocacy project within its framework and creating an enabling environment for state-level advocacy and community engagement.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is also  recognized for its commitment to timely MR disease surveillance, reporting, and public sensitization on the importance of vaccination. We acknowledge the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for the commitment to ensure inter-agency collaboration, and the timely licensing and certification of the MR vaccine.

Gratitude extends to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) for their commitment to public sensitization, awareness creation, and grassroots mobilization. Their contributions are pivotal in ensuring that the advocacy campaign resonates with communities and promotes vaccination uptake.

C-WINS particularly appreciates the Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum (NGSF) for its active role in mobilizing women and families at the grassroots. Their efforts will significantly contribute to ensuring households are informed and motivated to vaccinate their children, aligning with the campaign’s 95% coverage goal.

The leadership of the Health Sector Reform Coalition (HSRC) is acknowledged for its commitment to provide oversight and  rallying civil society organizations and professional groups to support the advocacy effort and create the needed awareness. C-WINS values the contributions of NOIPolls to lead surveys on public perceptions of the MR vaccine, providing critical insights to shape advocacy strategies and address vaccine hesitancy.

The meeting achieved its objective, with stakeholders reaffirming their roles and responsibilities to ensure successful implementation. The coalition platforms supporting the advocacy project expressed optimism about achieving results, reinforcing the collective commitment to eradicating measles and rubella in Nigeria.

C-WINS remains committed to fostering partnerships and leading initiatives that strengthen public health systems and improve health outcomes across the nation.
