Gombe State Strengthens Collaboration with C-WINS for Measles-Rubella Vaccine Introduction Advocacy
On January 15, 2025, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, warmly received his predecessor, Dr. Ahmed Gana, during a key advocacy visit aimed at advancing public health in Gombe State. The visit centered on fostering a strategic partnership between the Centre for Well-being and Nutrition Solutions (C-WINS) and the Gombe State Government to facilitate the introduction of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine.
The advocacy meeting was graced by the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency (GSPHCDA), Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu, and his dedicated team. Discussions focused on leveraging Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) to ensure the vaccine reaches every community, with an emphasis on creating awareness and building public trust.
Dr. Ahmed Gana, serving as the North East Zonal Consultant, outlined C-WINS’ critical role in this initiative. The organization will provide technical support to strengthen advocacy efforts, actively engage both state and non-state actors, and lead comprehensive public education campaigns about the importance of the MR vaccine. These efforts aim to ensure a seamless and impactful rollout of the program.
