Advocating for Health, Empowering Women, Protecting Families: WOWICAN Joins the Fight Against Measles-Rubella
At C-WINS, on 28th January 2025 we were honored to welcome the dynamic leaders of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) for an impactful advocacy meeting on the introduction of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine.
Key Highlights from the Event:
- Commitment to Advocacy: The women leaders pledged to rally their communities, ensuring that no child is left behind in the fight against preventable diseases.
- Inspiring Words from WOWICAN: Dr. Elizabeth Akinadewo, National Chairperson of WOWICAN, emphasized the role of women in protecting their families, saying:
- “As women, if our children are sick, we are sick. That is why we will ensure every child gets the MR vaccine. We are committed to supporting the MR advocacy.”
- Collaborative Action: Discussions focused on strategies to amplify awareness, mobilize resources, and drive vaccination uptake in hard-to-reach areas.
Why This Matters
The MR vaccine is a critical tool in preventing measles and rubella, two highly contagious diseases that pose a significant threat to children’s health. By partnering with WOWICAN, we aim to:
✔️ Increase awareness about the importance of immunization
✔️ Foster community trust and engagement in vaccination programs
✔️ Protect children and strengthen public health efforts
The Road Ahead
This partnership marks a powerful step forward in ensuring healthier futures for Nigerian families. Together with WOWICAN, we will continue to empower communities, drive change, and safeguard children from preventable illnesses.
💡 Join the Movement: Let’s work together to make the MR vaccine accessible to every child in Nigeria.
