FOMWAN Joins the Fight Against Measles and Rubella: No Child Left Behind!

The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has pledged its commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in the fight against Measles and Rubella (MR) in Nigeria.

In a recent advocacy meeting with C-WINS, FOMWAN members—who are mothers, caregivers, and community leaders—voiced their strong support for the MR vaccine introduction across the country. For them, this is about equity—every child, regardless of background or location, must have access to life-saving vaccines.

“As mothers, we cannot allow preventable diseases to steal our children’s future. Every child deserves protection, and we will work tirelessly to ensure no child is left behind,” Said Dr Sumaya Hamza, FOMWAN Amira affirmed.

FOMWAN’s vast network across Nigeria will play a crucial role in mobilizing communities, educating parents, and countering misinformation about vaccines. Their partnership with C-WINS is a major step toward increasing MR vaccine uptake and ensuring that all children are given a fair chance at a healthy life.

C-WINS applauds FOMWAN’s dedication and calls on all stakeholders—government, religious leaders, and civil society—to unite in ensuring the successful introduction of the MR vaccine in Nigeria.
