Software Engineer with AI Expertise

Summary of the role:

We are seeking a Software Engineer with AI Expertise who is eager to make a positive difference to lives, community, and society to design, develop, and implement AI-powered innovative solutions to attack health, nutrition, development, and governance challenges. The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence with a passion for social impact to work with team members to design and create tools for change that optimise program delivery, enhance decision-making, modify and adapt behaviour, and drive meaningful change.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop software applications and tools to support health and nutrition interventions as well as development and improve governance at multilevel.
• Design and implement AI and machine learning models to analyse program data and predict outcomes.
• Collaborate with data science and program teams to create user-friendly, impactful digital solutions.
• Integrate AI-powered insights into decision-support systems and dashboards.
• Ensure all software and AI solutions are ethical, secure, and compliant with data protection standards.
• Stay current on advancements in AI and software development, applying best practices to our projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Proven experience in software engineering, with a focus on AI and machine learning (portfolio or project examples preferred).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn; and cloud platforms such as, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, data structures, and algorithms.
• Knowledge of public health, nutrition, or non-profit sectors is an advantage but not required.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to using technology for social good.
